Turns out healthy, nutrient-rich soils are vital for so much more than growing plants and produce. That’s why we’re looking into this often overlooked topic in our latest survey for the region: Why nutrients and healthy soils matter.
From growing our food, to nurturing the plants and animals in our gardens, towns and countryside, soil plays a huge part in our daily lives here in Yorkshire and the Humber. But just as important is its role in flood risk, land stability, carbon storage and water management – and if we don’t look after the health of our soil, we expose ourselves to all sorts of associated issues.
So we’ve drafted some recommendations for making progress on soil health, which would affect individuals, landowners and farmers. And we’re asking, how do you feel about them?
